The "caffè sospeso" – pending coffee - Neapolitan tradition revisited in Bergamo the "so called" Città dei Mille for historical reasons....
Dine in one of the restaurants participating to this initiative and make a donation to provide a meal to those in need. Together we will be able to help many persons.
Inspired by its service tradition and aiming at highlighting these years focus on nutrition, the Rotary Bergamo Città Alta repeats in its town the "Pending Dinner" initiative performed by Caritas Ambrosiana in Milan during the Expo 2015. Our purpose is to give our contribution to a more open society caring for those who are not able to sit at our table.
Dining in one of the restaurants participating to the "Cena Sospesa" initiative, a network of cafés and restaurants also sponsored by Caritas Bergamasca, Bergamo Municipality and local trade organizations, you have now the opportunity to provide a meal to those who cannot afford it. Through a simple gesture, your donation - any amount - will contribute to pay for a "Cena Sospesa" voucher, that may be spent in many supporting stores. Caritas Bergamasca Counseling Centers will distribute these food vouchers to citizens in need, who will then be able to spend them to buy food. Together we will help, respecting their dignity, people and families in need.
There will be an envelope on each table. When the waiter will take your payment, he will also deposit your donation in the collection box on display in the restaurant. Envelopes will be periodically collected and delivered to Caritas Bergamasca to be turned into "Cena Sospesa" food vouchers.
"Cena Sospesa" is a Rotary Bergamo Città Alta initiative in cooperation with Caritas Bergamasca, sponsored by Bergamo Municipality, with the support of Ascom Confcommercio, Confindustria Bergamo, L'Eco di Bergamo and Banca Popolare di Bergamo.
